FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

If I have no experience doing backcountry, can I still go on a tour?

Of course you can! You don’t need to be an experienced pro to try backcountry. If, using skis, telemarks, or a snowboard, you can carve on regular runs, and you are at a stage where you can purposefully and confidently get down the run, then you should be fine. If during the tour you begin to feel uncomfortable, Forest & Water guides will of course be supportive in helping you get down the mountain safely. We encourage you to know your own limits. There are also courses for more experienced backcountry skiers or snowboarders once you feel comfortable with the Basic Tour. The ability to participate depends principally on your physically condition, but we also ask that participants be of high school age or above.
